EmailWelcome to our church's website. We are glad that you are checking us out.
Southside Baptist Church is a church with a blessed past and a bright future. Established in February of 1936, Southside has always desired to honor the Lord Jesus Christ and serve Him. Starting with 44 members in 1936 to 100's in attendance today proves that Southside has risen to the challenge of seeking to bring people into a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Mission of this growing family of Faith is, to honor God by bringing people in, Building people up, and Sending people out for the Lord. This is not just some catchy phase but it is the mission that we the members are seeking to live out every day of our lives.
It has been my privilege to serve as it's sixth pastor since September of 1982. These have been wonderful years for my family and myself. Greenville is a wonderful place to live and Southside is a great place to serve.
To give you just a little background on myself; I graduated Evergreen High School, in Conecuh County, graduated Troy University and went on to New Orleans Seminary, Louisiana.
Thanks again for checking out our website and we hope you will check out one of our services here at Southside.
Pastor Herbert Brown
EmailWorship is a priority here at Southside Baptist Church. Authentic worship is one of our core values. It is our goal to teach people how to worship and to provide opportunities for our congregation to utilize their gifts through a variety of music ministries, such as Adult Choir, Soloist, Vocal Ensembles and Praise Bands.
The goal of our Children's Music ministry is to help our preschool and grade school children to DISCOVER their musical gifts, DEVELOP their musical gifts, and then DEPLOY their musical gifts in serving our Lord through worship leadership.
I was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi but grew up in Huntsville, Alabama. I was saved in 1978 and then called into the music ministry in 1979, at the age of 19. I received a Bachelor's of Church Music in vocal performance from Samford University, in Birmingham, Alabama and a Master's of Arts in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, in Fort Worth, Texas.
I have had the privilege of serving churches in Tennessee, Alabama, Texas, and Kentucky. It has been my joy to serve here at Southside since March of 2008.
